Railay peninsula

Spent my last day in Railay. Although it was quite a "loop" coming here for just one day and night (from Phuket and then back to Surat Thani) it was worth the effort. Despite being full of hotels and restaurants, this place is just beautifully paradise. No roads, no cars; I had the pleasure again to swim among giant marine rocks, enjoyed fireflies at night, and the sound of reggae music while walking in the jungle.

Último día por el sur en Railay, una península cerca de Krabi. Aunque está repleto de hoteles este lugar es un auténtico paraíso. Muy popular para hacer escalada, hay un ambiente bastante hippy e incluso se ven rastas tailandeses. Sin coches, ni carretera puede disfrutar de nuevo de estos espectaculares paisajes kársticos. Incluso tuve la grata sorpresa de encontrarme rodeada de luciérnagas al anochecer, cuando volvía de un paseo por el bosque.

I climbed to this viewpoint on top of one of the giant rocks. The view was amazing but the place was full of cigarette buts. Some staff girls of my hotel (coincidence!) were there also and left a plastic bag and bottle. I did not say anything at that point but took the rubish back with me and told them when I was back at the hotel. They did not seem to be concerned; as usual, city people seem to have absolutely no environmental concern.

Subi a un mirador en lo alto de una de estas gigantes rocas y me encontré con unas chicas tailandesas que trabajaban en mi hotel. Aunque no entendía ni thai, parecía que estaban de cotilleo y andaban hablando por el móvil. Cuando se fueron, dejaron una bolsa de plástico y una botella de agua. Además, había un montón de colillas. Yo no les dije nada en el momento pero recogi su basura y les pegué un toque al bajar. No parecieron preocupadas... como de costumbre, el tema de no tirar la basura al suelo no parece tener éxito entre los locales.
