The first time I saw the Gabon viper (Bitis sp.) it was very well chamouflaged among the dead leaves on the forest floor. It didn´t move at all, as if it was very confident about itself (If I had that poison, I would also be very confident about myself). According to the locals, it is very pacific and will only bite you the third time you step on it.
Mi segundo encuentro fue en la playa a eso de las 6 de la mañana. Se movía muy lentamente y parecía que tenía el estómago lleno.
The second time I popped in the Gabon viper was on the beach at dawn. It was moving very slowly.
